Lauren has always been effective in her uptempo numbers but Friday night her ballads and slow blues also packed an emotional wallop. It fun to see a singer and a band growing in confidence and charisma.
Lauren manages a pretty neat trick as a performer. She can deliver a fully sensual version of “I Just Want To Make Love To You,” complete with some gyrations and leg kicks on top of the Hammond B3 – then go right into a gospel number without giving her audience whiplash. The guys love the form fitting leather pants and the women are drawn to her “Just one of the girls” personality.
The result was a sold-out side door show last Friday. Palladium favorites, Liz Pennock and Dr. Blues opened the show and joined Lauren’s band on-stage for a show closing version of “Down Home Blues.”
She’ll be back at the Side Door in June. Until then, check out this YouTube video of her closing song Friday night:

Another great show at the Palladium. Thank you Paul.

You are a man of good taste!!
That was one of the best shows I’ve seen at the Side Door. That lady can sing the Blues and her band is one of the best locally. Very enjoyable evening. I only wish that it would have lasted longer. It was worth the hour drive from North Tampa to get there. The Side Door is the perfect venue for Blues. It is only a matter of time before Lauren and her band make a real name for themselves nationally. She needs to be playing the 2013 Tampa Bay Blues Fest; it’s time some local Bues talent got recognized. Hey Paul, how about having her at this year’s After Hours Party at the Palladium?
Lauren is a real talent and on her way to much bigger venues and festivals, I think. She’s back with us next June. The Blues Fest folks pick the lineup for the after party, but I’ll pass along your comments. Thanks for coming out!
It’s about time someone supports The Lauren Mitchell Band to perform at the Tampa Bay Blues Festival.
