Saturday’s concert explores 100 years of Brazilian rhythms and sounds

Our hometown Bossa Nova star, Daniela Soledade, returns to the Palladium stage this Saturday, September 7, with a brand-new show called Brazilian Dream.

Born in Rio into a family of Bossa Nova royalty, Dani has built a major following around the U.S. and Europe – she has more than 65,000 fans on our email list! The August, 2024 edition of Jazz Is Magazine sang her praises:

“Daniela radiates romance from a bygone era every time she takes the stage.”

St. Petersburg’s arts magazine, Artisan, previewed the concert in a two-page spread that was released this week.

The show is Saturday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. in the Palladiums Hough Hall. For tickets and information, you can follow this link.

For Saturday’s concert, Daniela and her musical and life partner, Nate Najar, have put together an immersive experience that  mixes music and video, in a show you can only see at the Palladium.

Brazilian Dream is all about immersing the audience in the rich tapestry of Brazilian culture through music and visuals, showcasing the diverse styles I grew up with. The show highlights the Indigenous and African roots that have shaped our music, from Samba to Bossa Nova,” Daniela told me.

“We’re doing 100 years of Brazilian music in one package. The show will move through different eras including classic Samba, Bossa Nova, soulful grooves, with lots of unique rhythms,” Nate told me. “And the second half opens with an elegant Hollywood vibe.”

Along with Daniela’s sultry vocals, the band features Najar on acoustic guitar, along with Nate, Carl Amundson, electric guitar, Patrick Bettison, keyboards and harmonica, Joe Porter, bass, and Claudio Infante, drums.

Nate and Daniela are Creative Fellows at the Palladium, part of a program that supports local artists as they create new work for the theater.

“I can’t wait to bring Brazilian Dream to life for our community here in St. Pete!” Daniela said. “I am incredibly grateful to the Palladium Theater for their amazing support, which has allowed us to create a truly special experience.”
