The Sleeping Beauty ballet, composed by the famous Tchaikovsky and choreographed by Marius Pepipa, is the ultimate romantic ballet, an enchanting tale based on one of the most beloved fairy tales of all time.

The beautiful Princess Aurora is cursed at her christening by the wicked fairy Carabosse to prick her finger on a spindle and die. Through the goodness and protection of the Lilac Fairy, instead of dying when prophecy is fulfilled on her sixteenth birthday, Aurora falls into an enchanted sleep for a hundred years until she is finally awoken b the kiss of Prince Désiré.

The Sleeping Beauty ballet focuses on the conflict between good (personified by the Lilac Fairy) and evil (the witch Carabosse), with the repeated use of two musical themes representing each of the forces. A prologue and three acts make the structure of this ballet.
