ABOUT SIOBHAN MONIQUE
Siobhan Monique’s artistic journey began with a rhythm ingrained in her soul by her uncle, Buster Cooper, a luminary of the Duke Ellington Band. Even before she could walk, Siobhan was swaying to jazz melodies. At the tender age of three, she harmonized her dance with the vibrant hymns of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Her musical odyssey took flight when she encountered the rich tapestry of classical arias and American folk at John Hopkins Middle School, guided by the inspirational mentorship of Music teacher, Stanley Butts. Encouraged to pursue classical training and deepen her musical education, Siobhan found her path at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts.

Under the tutelage of voice teacher Dawn Eubanks, she honed her craft, earning acclaim as a finalist in the Walker Rising Stars Scholarship Foundation and as a featured soloist at the National Holocaust Remembrance project in Washington D.C. Equipped with a degree in Classical Voice from the University of South Florida, where she studied under the esteemed Dr. Warren Jaworski, Siobhan now leads her band, Siobhan Monique and The Negro Ninjaz as the lead singer. Her magnetic presence has graced esteemed venues including the Palladium Theater, Rock the Park, Jannus Live, American Stage, Mahaffey Theater, the Straz Center, and Williams Park. Siobhan’s versatility shines through her theatrical endeavors, portraying captivating roles such as Geneva Lee Brown in “Radio Hours,” Bess in “Porgy and Bess” at Platinum Theaters Bella Voce, and Summer Breeze in “Inertia: The Musical.” Her talents have also found a home in the vibrant landscape of New York’s theater scene, with appearances in the renowned “Cranky Cabaret” and her own one-woman show, “Siobhan Monique and More,” at the illustrious Duplex Theater. Notably, Siobhan portrayed Sarah’s friend in “Ragtime: The Musical” at American Stage.

Beyond the stage, Siobhan is a beacon of advocacy, serving as the spokesperson for the nonprofit organization, RaceWithoutIsm. https://racewithoutism.com/ She proudly holds the role of President at AncestralFunk Academy, a school that utilizes various art modalities as a means of healing and creative expression. Additionally, Siobhan is the curator of the “Motherland Music Festival,” a celebration of cultural heritage and musical diversity. Her impact extends to the screen, with a WEDU-PBS documentary featuring Siobhan nominated for an Emmy, showcasing her unwavering commitment to using her artistry as a catalyst for change.
