Side Door favorites are returning this month, and tickets are going fast – so buy ’em now!

Tickets are going fast for several of our upcoming Side Door shows, so consider this an advice column. My advice is this –  if you want to see a Side Door show in January get your tickets now!

Both shows this week are heading to sell-outs and both feature favorite artists from last season. Thursday we’re bringing Arbors Records recording artists  Nicki Parrott (bass and vocals), Rossano Sportiello (piano) and Ed Metz (drums). Nicki and Rossano are two of New York City’s busiest jazz players and Ed is based in Orlando and joining them for a tour of Florida that kicks off this Thursday at the Palladium. Nicki was last here as part of the Statesmen of Jazz in October. Nicki, Rossano and Ed are appearing in support of their new Arbors CD, which will be on sale that night.

Friday night we’re bringing back one of my favorite bluesmen – Selwyn Birchwood and his band. Selwyn beat out some 230 other bands in Memphis last January to win the International Blues Challenge. He also won the “Albert King” award as Best Blues Guitarist. He’s based in Tampa and just finished his master’s degree at USF. He’s a great showman who has been touring the country with this band.

Both shows are selling fast and there may not be tickets left at the door.

The next weekend we’re bringing back another 2013 favorite – Southern Hospitality. This blues/roots “supergroup’ features Damon Fowler, JP Soars and Victor Wainwright. They did two sold-out shows in the Side Door last year and they are back for two more Side Door shows on the 17th and 18th of January. This is likely the last time you’ll be able to see them in such an intimate setting. We’re only selling 150 tickets per night and tickets are going quickly for those shows so don’t wait.

At the end of the month another Palladium favorite, Roy Book Binder, arrives for the CD Release party for his new recording, The Good Book. Roy lives in St. Pete, but most of the year he tours the U.S. and Europe, doing acoustic blues and telling his wonderful stories. This time, he’s appearing with a trio – all players who are on the album. It’s another show you don’t want to miss.

More to come, but remember – you’ve been warned – get your tickets now. Call the box office at 727 822-3590 or buy tickets on the web at www.mypalladium.org.
