PalladiumPaul’s hands – and my personal muse – kick off St. Pete Arts Alliance MUSE promotion

Many thanks to John Collins and the folks at the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance for making PalladiumPaul the inaugural artist in their MUSE promotion. The photos of artists hands and a few words about their personal muse, will be featured weekly, leading up to the Arts Alliance fundraiser on Jan. 30.
Last year’s inaugural MUSE event was one of my favorite parties of 2014. It returns to the Museum of Fine Arts again this year. Don’t miss it. I’ve included a copy of this year’s event poster, designed by the wonderful artist Carrie M. Jadus.

The photo was taken at the Side Door Cabaret, with me playing our wonderful Yamaha grand. John Collins was the photographer. I’ll be playing a few songs at the MUSE fundraiser and co-hosting with the great Becca McCoy.

Here’s what accompanied the photo of my hands on the keyboard:
The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance presents MUSE — a benefit for the arts and a celebration of our arts and cultural community. Join us on Friday, January 30 at the Museum of Fine Arts. Our Inspiration for MUSE 2015 is Artists’ Hands. This week’s artist spotlight is Paul Wilborn.
Executive Director and Artistic Director, Palladium Theater at St. Pete College.
The multi-talented pianist and singer lets his fingers fly over the keys while combining song styling with stories and anecdotes, never missing a beat or a punch line.

Who is his Muse?

MuseAd“My artistic Muse is Bobby Short, the great cabaret pianist and singer who played for over 35 years at the Café Carlyle in New York. He was a student of the Great American songbook and knew the hit songs, but also the obscure gems. I met him once at the Café Carlyle. I’ve read both his books and listened to his albums. One of our cabaret shows is called ‘A Night At The Café Carlyle – A Bobby Short Celebration.’”Click http://www.stpeteartsalliance.org/index.php/special-events to nominate your favorite St. Petersburg artistic muses – individuals who inspire and guide our city to its standing as an arts destination. All nominees will become eligible to receive a 2015 Muse Award.
