At the Palladium the arrival of April isn’t just a sign of spring, it’s a reminder that our BEACON dance series, is almost here.
That’s right, BEACON returns for the ninth time to our stage on Friday, April 5 at 8 p.m. Since the debut in 2015, BEACON has helped propel our local professional dance community into unique collaborations, and nurtured the growth of both emerging and established dance artists who call St. Pete home.
Again, this dance series is produced by Helen French and Lauren Slone, who have guided the series since the beginning.
This year, BEACON features four world premieres, 20 dance artists, two local dance companies, two live musicians, one spoken word artist and one dance film. Companies participating include projectALCHEMY and Atlas Modern Ballet. Choreographers include Heidi Brewer, Sharon McCaman, Andee Scott and Bliss Kohlmyer, Charlotte Johnson. Helen French will dance in a world premier piece created by Andee Scott.
Support for the series continues to grow. BEACON ‘24 is presented in partnership with the Palladium with additional support from Kahwa Coffee, Sally & Tom Baynard, and The Rays & Rowdies.
