Two of our favorite guitar-slingers – Sean Chambers and Damon Fowler – are headed to the Side Door this weekend and next weekend.
We start off Friday night (9-26) with the return of Sean Chambers at 8 p.m. Here’s what the Suncoast Blues Society said about this show:
“If you like your blues blazin’ hot, be at The Palladium (253 5 Ave. N, St. Pete) for The Sean Chambers Band! Sean will definitely light your fire! Chambers is touring in support of the band’s recent release The Rock House Sessions, nominated by Blues Blast Music for 2014’s “Best Rock Blues Album.”
“Chambers’ brand of blues is a no-frills blend of Chicago, Texas, and Delta styles, played with an understated sense of ferocity. Says Mark Uricheck of Living Blues Magazine, “Sean came to wail, and he does so with a transparent sense of devotion and scholarship to the music he plays so well.”
And returning on Oct. 4 is another local boy who is making it big around the country – Damon Fowler.
Here’s what his label – Blind Pig – said about Damon:
“After spending much of the past year touring with the band Southern Hospitality, Damon Fowler is back with his third solo project for Blind Pig Records, Sounds of Home. Damon chose swamp blues master Tab Benoit to produce and record him at Tab’s rural Louisiana home studio, and their collaboration has resulted in Damon’s strongest effort to date.
“The tension between his measured, laid-back vocal delivery and the hallmark intensity of his guitar virtuosity has never been keener, and the stories told in his songwriting here – sometimes in collaboration with long-time writing partner Ed Wright and Benoit – exhibit a combination of depth, grace and humor very few of his contemporaries can match.”
You know the Side Door is the best blues club in town. Now you can get reserved seats – we offer a limited number for each Side Door show. General admission is also available. Don’t miss these two great show. For tickets and more info go to www.mypalladium.org.
