TC Carr brings his survival skills AND an all-star band to the Side Door tonight!

TC CarrTC Carr is mostly known for his harmonica chops and his crisp singing style but surviving brushes with death seems to be a growing part of his repertoire.

On his website, TC talks about his first film role in a recent National Geographic TV special. He plays, naturally, a musician fronting a band, then later he’s a patient who has contracted malaria and is facing death in a hospital.

Not satisfied with that fictional version, TC was on a boogie board in the Atlantic near St. Augustine in June when a wave hit him and knocked him to the bottom, slamming his head into the hard sand. Pulled from the surf, he wasn’t breathing and quickly went into cardiac arrest. It took some intense life-saving work by a team of St. John’s County paramedics to bring him back to this side of the dark curtain.

And what does a guy who has stared death in the eye want to do with another chance – he wants to get together with some great musicians and play a gig at the Side Door!

You can catch TC tonight at 8 with what we’re calling an “Allstar Bolts of Blue Band.” Among those stars are two of my favorite guitarists – Josh Nelms (late of the Betty Fox Band) and Eddie Wright, who has played with everybody, most recently sharing stages with Damon Fowler. Mix in TC’s harp and Matt Walker on bass and Sam Farmer on drums and tonight should be some kind of special. Other guests are TBA!

Seriously, we’re happy to have the front man for The Catch, the harp player for the Mad Beach Band, and one of the best musicians in Florida, around for more gigs.
