Just before the start of our sold-out Bossa Nova Guitars show in the Side Door last Friday, someone asked me “what’s the secret to all these sold out shows in the summer?”
That was an easy one. The formula for the elusive “sell-out” – even in the dead of summer – is a mix of three elements – start with a great listening room, add in the best musicians you can find, and charge a fair price. Do that and you’ll find yourself hanging the SOLD OUT sign a lot.
It also doesn’t hurt to have a great staff, a crystal-clear sound system, and a cadre of dedicated volunteers who help people enjoy their time at the Side Door. Oh yes, and cold beer and good wine…
This coming weekend should be another big one for us.
Jeremy Carter has appeared several times with Nate Najar and other band leaders, but this Friday (8-12) the sax star is headlining his own show. This one is a tribute to the late great saxophonist Michael Brecker. And Jeremy is packing the stage with some of the best players from the West Coast. STretch Bruyn on paino, Patrick Bettison on bass, John Jenkins, drums, guitarist Ian Tilp, and James Suggs, on trumpet. Both STretch and James have headlined their own “sold-out” shows in the Side Door in recent months.
For tickets to Jeremy’s show call our box office at 822-3590 or follow this link for online tickets.
And Saturday night (8-13) is another amazing debut show. I heard Daryal Kafkasso Erdem and his band at the Hotel Zamora a few months ago and immediately invited them to play the Side Door. Born in Istanbul, Daryal combines the sights and sounds of the Mediterranean in his music and stage show. An evening with Kafkasso is a banquet for the senses. Passionate music, classic belly dancing and folk dancing and a stage-full of beautiful people.
This show will likely sellout in in advance, so get your tickets now by calling our box office at 727 822-3590 or following this link for online sales.

Paul,
All of my “Live Music Lovers” really enjoyed the Bossa Nova Guitars.
You may want to consider The Reinhardt Brothers (Ron & Dave) and their bassist (usually Tim George)…they’ve been playing at LP’s Pub in Clearwater every other Tuesday. They bring in guest artists…and large crowds! Ron & Dave have both played with MANY big name acts.
Thanks for putting them on my radar. I’ll check ’em out. And thanks for coming out for the Bossa Nova show.
