Welcome to January 2017!
Your favorite blogger returned from a two-week holiday this morning and I’m exhausted just hitting the delete button on all the emails. Imagine how much work it would have been to read them?
Coming back to work is not really so tough when I take a look at our upcoming schedule of shows. January looks stellar and our schedule is jam-packed with goodies for all music and dance lovers through the July!
If you love great soul and blues music, then Friday’s night’s concert with Victor Wainwright and the Wild Roots will satisfy. Victor is the hottest piano player in the blues industry today – and has the awards to prove it. And to make the show even hotter, our own Backtrack Blues Band is recording their opening for a video and audio release. Backtrack’s new CD, Way Back Home, roared to the top of the blues charts and has earned the band raves from around the world.
The Songs of the Civil Rights Movement, a stirring free event, featuring singers, musicians, video and more, will present three shows on Sunday and Monday. This event is back by popular demand and serves as St. Petersburg’s official kickoff for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration.
And on Friday, Jan. 13, it’s the long-awaited return of BEACON – our performance series featuring great dancers and choreographers. More on that show coming up in this blog this week.
And close on the heels of BEACON, is the kickoff of our Palladium Chamber Players Series – five world-class chamber concerts over the next five months.
And we’re just getting started. For tickets to these shows just follow this link to our website or call the box office at 727-822-3590.
Stay tuned and I’ll see you at the theater!
