St. Pete’s Helen Hansen French is in residency this weekend in Italy; she returns to dance at the Palladium on Nov. 14

St. Petersburg’s own Helen Hansen French, is working this weekend in Umbria, Italy as part of Buglisi Dance Theatre‘s Table of Silence performance. And you can watch it has it happens on Aug. 1.

Helen, who will be performing and choreographing work on the Palladium stage on Nov. 14, is a principal dancer and rehearsal director for Buglisi. You’ll be hearing more about her collaborative show at the Palladium in the coming weeks.

Table of Silence Residency in Umbria

 

Buglisi’s Table of Silence Project has been embraced around the world, inspiring numerous similar events including, this summer, a cross-cultural residency and performances in Umbria, Italy, in partnership with the Pieve International School, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and the Royal Academy of Dance in Perugia. As part of UNCG’s study abroad program, “Dancing in the Heart of Italy”, Jacqulyn Buglisi and BDT Rehearsal Director Helen Hansen French are giving American and Italian dancers the unique opportunity to perform The Table of Silence Project – in Italy – on the occasion of Il Giorno del Perdono – The Day of Forgiveness, on Sunday, August 2nd at the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi and the Piazza IV Novembre in Perugia.

  1. Helen happens to be the wife of my youngest nephew, Jonathan French. I have had the privilege of watching her dance, and have watched the Table of Silence performance each year on 9/11 since its inception. I am so proud of her accomplishments and love her dearly.
