ABOUT THE SHOW:
Spice & Sound is an intimate, multi-sensory event where the worlds of music, cuisine, and storytelling intertwine. Designed to create a rich, immersive experience, this offering brings together the artistry of the Temporal Taal Collective with thoughtfully curated food and wine pairings, creating an evening that stimulates the senses and fosters meaningful connections.
The Temporal Taal Collective is an ensemble that transcends the ordinary, merging sound and movement to create a rich, immersive experience. With Anjan Shah on bansuri and saxophone, Nabin Shrestha on tabla, Amy Shook on bass, Jonathan Epley on guitar, and Sarah Morelli, Kathak dancer, this award-winning group delivers a powerful blend of Indian classical music, jazz, and global influences. Their performances draw on the legacy of cross-cultural projects like Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad and John McLaughlin’s legendary Shakti, bringing together diverse musical traditions in an exhilarating fusion of genres.
The ensemble has performed with renowned orchestras, including the Spectrum Studio Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony, and the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra, captivating audiences with pieces like “Nightfall Rhapsody”—a 22-minute sonic journey that transports listeners through a landscape of culture and rhythm.
Curated in collaboration with Palladium Creative Fellow Ella Fredrickson.
The Temporal Taal Collective thanks Compass Land & Title for their support of “Spice & Sound.”
