Two Different Concepts…One Amazing Performance

The Winter Gala

Gulf Coast Dance Theater’s 2021 Winter Gala opens with an excerpt from the classic ballet Swan Lake, staged by Artistic Director Anne Carollo and Resident Choreographer Nicole Stuart. Then there are two contemporary pieces and a Jazz Dance Production, all of which are Choreographed by Amy DiBongrazio. You will also see our adult company members perform a new piece by Artistic Director Anne Carollo.

Cinderella Act 1

After a brief intermission you will be transformed to another time with Gulf Coast Dance Theater’s production of Cinderella Act 1, adapting Sergei Prokofiev’s brilliant musical masterpieces. The score sets the tune to the timeless childhood story of Cinderella, her Evil Step-Mother and Step-sisters, her Fairy Godmother and all of her magic, and of course her departure for the ball. Artistic Director Anne Carollo guides the company, Pre-company, and Adult-company dancers through her adaptation of this classic story, with help from her artistic staff.

History of the Show

Gulf Coast Dance Theater’s Gala originated in the spring during the company’s early years and was paired with the long-running production of Alice in Wonderland. In 2017, when Alice in Wonderland expanded into two acts, The Gala was moved to the winter and paired with Cinderella.

In 2017, GCDT premiered Cinderella, and added it to the repertoire of Theater Productions. Cinderella is a massive undertaking and GCDT hopes to one day expand it into a full-length ballet. For now, we have paired it with the Winter Gala which makes for a diverse and exciting evening of dance.

Presented by Gulf Coast Dance Theater.
