Featuring Rob Rio, Henri Herbert, and Liz Pennock & Dr. Blues!
The Palladium’s most rollicking tradition returns! Since its debut in 2011, the Boogie Woogie Piano Stomp has become one of our most anticipated annual events – a high-octane celebration of boogie woogie blues piano that sells out year after year.
For 2026, we’re bringing back an all-star lineup led by Victor Wainwright, the six-time Blues Award-winner and GRAMMY nominee known as “The Piana from Savannah.” Joining him are three Stomp favorites:
- Rob Rio, the “Boss of Boogie,” and member of the Boogie Woogie Piano Hall of Fame, returning for his fifth Stomp appearance;
- Henri Herbert, back by popular demand following last year’s Stomp and his sold-out Side Door solo performance this summer;
- Liz Pennock & Dr. Blues, longtime hosts of the Boogie Woogie Piano Stomp and members of the Boogie Woogie Hall of Fame.
This year’s stomp will honor Bob Seeley, our headliner for the first 10 years, who passed away in 2024. As always, the Palladium’s two grand pianos take center stage, and we will project images of the players’ hands as they do their eight-to-the-bar magic. Whether you’re a longtime Stomp devotee or a first-timer, the Boogie Woogie Piano Stomp promises an unforgettable night of boogie woogie brilliance.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Victor Wainwright – The “Piana from Savannah” returns to the Boogie Woogie Stomp, where he’s wowed Palladium audiences with his hard-driving boogie, blues and honky tonk chops. Wainwright has won six total Blues Music Awards, charted #1 on the Top 10 in the U.S. Billboard and was Nominated for a 2019 GRAMMY. Normally, Victor appears with his band, The Train, or with the super-group, Southern Hospitality. This is a chance to hear him rocking the Palladium Steinway all by himself.
“Savannah, GA native Victor Wainwright is all about boogie woogie piano, deep soul, and a voice that recalls Dr. John at his best. He is a blues star, a tremendous player.” –Chicago Blues Guide
Rob Rio – Known as the “Boss of the Boogie”, pianoman/vocalist Rob Rio plays the boogie-woogie and jump blues of the 40’s and 50’s with a virtuosity and elan that has excited audiences around the world for more than 35 years. Rio was inducted into the Boogie Woogie Hall Of Fame in 2008. He has appeared with many of the original blues greats, such as Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, James Cotton, Charles Brown, Joe Cocker, Paul Butterfield and many more, and has recorded with Mick Jagger, Canned Heat, Billy Boy Arnold, William Clarke, Coco Montoya, Finis Tasby, Walter Trout, Mud Morganfield, Phillip Walker and others, along with 12 CDs under his own name as well as dozens of other projects. This is his fifth appearance at the Stomp!
“I think Rob Rio plays as good as the very best pianist in the boogie music. He certainly has my approval.” –Floyd Dixon
Henri Herbert – The star of the 2025 Boogie Woogie Stomp, Herbert returns by popular demand. Originally from the UK, he currently resides in Nashville, and tours extensively in the United States and Europe as a soloist. He is a permanent resident of the USA and is now one of the most sought-after blues and boogie pianists in the world. In fact, his Green Card was awarded based on his skill as a blues pianist. From an early age, Herbert was fascinated by the piano-pounding pioneers Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, and Pete Johnson. A video of Henri playing an impromptu blues on the public piano in London’s St Pancras Train Station has now reached an incredible 72 million views on YouTube and is a regular feature of his live shows. The New Yorker called him: “A blazing young pianist.”
“His bar-room boogie piano manages to be, variously, celebratory, roiling, turbulent, manic and even – delicate and moving.” –BBC Music
Liz Pennock & Dr. Blues – Piano player/singer Liz Pennock began performing professionally as a solo artist in 1975. Undaunted by what might seem a limitation, Pennock was born minus two fingers on each hand, a fact not evident from the other side of the piano. She has developed her own powerful ivory-tickling style, inspiring countless listeners. Pennock’s songwriting ranges from the romantic “My Best Fan” to the rollicking “He Plays the Boogie.” Liz also plays trombone and was an endorsee for Hohner harmonicas from 1998 thru 2011. Guitarist/vocalist Paul “Dr. Blues” Shambarger began his musical career as a drummer in the late 1960’s. He added guitar in the early 1970’s, then honed his slide dobro skills in the 1990’s. Doc’s witty lyrics can be heard in his crowd-pleasing favorites “Alimony Blues,” “Taxi Driving Woman” and “Low-Tech Guy.” Both are members of the Boogie Woogie Hall of Fame. And together they have hosted the Boogie Woogie Blue Piano Stomp since it’s inception in 2009!
“Mixing a dollop of jazz, a dash of rock, and even the occasional whiff of folk into their well-crafted tunes, blues duo Liz Pennock & Dr. Blues reach beyond the traditional scope of the blues.” –Creative Loafing, Atlanta, GA
