We’re blessed to have pianist Rebecca Penneys calling our area home. She is an internationally known concert artist and was a long-time professor of piano at the famed Eastman School of Music.
She is the founder and continues to lead the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival, a training ground for the next generation of top concert artists.
Penneys, a Steinway Artist who was appointed as artist in residence at St. Petersburg College in 2001, will be performing a solo recital this Friday night, Oct. 12, at the SPC’s Music Center, on the Gibbs Campus, 6605 Fifth Ave. North, in St. Petersburg.
“Penneys playing is nothing short of amazing,” is how Fanfare Magazine described her concerts.
She’s calling Friday’s program Songs Galore and it features compositions by some of my favorite composers including Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt and closes with a George Gershwin medley.
You can buy tickets for $10 at the door. The concert is free for SPC faculty and students. For more information you can follow this link.
