I’ve got two of my favorite bay-area bands in the intimate Side Door this weekend. It’s a double-bill of ‘60s bachelor pad jazz, by Stolen Idols, and the eclectic music masters known as the Vodkanauts.
The Side Door, our nightclub, was recognized as a “Best of The Bay” music venue, by Creative Loafing this year. Where better for two top Lounge acts than our award-winning lounge. Beer and wine, tablecloths, candles and a great sound system are what we’re offering. Unlike most other music rooms in town, there are no TVs flashing in the background.
Stolen Idols played an amazing show last summer in the Side Door, but we’ve never had the Vodkanauts in the house. I love the idea of pairing these bands.
A description of Stolen Idols that appeared in TBT recently actually fits both bands – “They’re surfing at the point where kitsch and cool meet.”
I’m thinking the music Saturday night would be something you’d find on a Tarantino soundtrack. Only you can get up and dance to it.
For more on these great bands, visit their websites – http://vodkanauts.com/ and http://stolenidols.com/ – or visit their facebook pages. For tickets, visit www.mypalladium.org or call the box office at 727 822-3590.
Stolen Idols opens the show at 8. The Vodkanauts are likely doing two sets after that. Don’t miss it. I’ll be there dancing!
