Don’t miss a night of Cajun and Zydeco with Tom Rigney and Flambeau – and bring your dancing shoes!

We’ve got a special treat for you this Thursday in the Palladium’s Side Door. Join us for a Louisiana-style night of dancing and great Cajun and zydeco music featuring Tom Rigney and Flambeau.

Based in San Francisco, Rigney’s band specializes in fiery Cajun and zydeco two-steps, low-down blues, funky New Orleans grooves, and heartbreakingly beautiful ballads and waltzes. A Flambeau concert features tight ensemble playing, deeply infectious grooves and spectacular soloing. The band is in town this weekend to play the Suncoast Jazz Classic in Clearwater, but we were able to snag them for a Side door showcase thanks to our friends at that festival.

Now entering his second decade at the helm of Flambeau, Tom Rigney, an electrifying violinist/composer, shares the stage with some of the finest musicians on the San Francisco roots music scene. This band can tear the roof off anyplace that has one and raise the spirits of everyone around. Rigney recently shared a tour with the great cajun fiddler and bandleader, Michael Doucet.

Rigney’s passionate, virtuoso fiddling, range, depth and originality as a composer are showcased. His charismatic stage presence and high-energy delivery draw the audience into his performances making them feel they are an integral part of the music and the show.

The members of the band are veterans of the great bands of Charles Brown, Queen Ida, Clifton Chenier, and others. His pianist, Carolyn Dahl, is a stellar boogie woogie pianist, who played a solo show at the Side Door two years ago. Together this band generates enough heat and energy to lift an audience to its feet. Visit Tom Rigney and Flambeau’s website for more info and get your tickets and bring your dancing shoes for Thursday night’s show in the intimate Side Door.
