The latest issue of Tampa Bay Magazine gives special recognition to the Palladium at St. Petersburg College in the annual “Best of 2013” edition.
Your beautiful and historic theater was again named “Best Community Performing Arts Center.” Here’s what the editors at Tampa Bay Magazine said:
“Now part of St. Petersburg College, this architecturally beautiful, 850-seat community theater is committed to representing cultural diversity and emerging artists, as well as enriching the lives of people in the community. From their Side Door Jazz series to St. Petersburg Opera, their programming is entertaining and affordable.”
This is the second “Best of the Bay” award for us this season. Last fall, Creative Loafing hailed the Palladium’s Side Door Cabaret as “Best Underground Music Series,” for shows in our intimate downstairs cabaret. The Side Door reminded them of a great New York nightclub.
If you haven’t seen a show yet in the Side Door, we’ve got a bunch of good ones coming up this summer, starting with “Blues For Night People,” a CD release party for Nate Najar’s new album. The album is a tribute to guitarist Charlie Byrd and will feature Byrd’s former drummer and vibe player, Chuck Redd, along with local favorite and Duke Ellington alum, John Lamb. The show is Friday, May 24 at 7:30.
