What I love about the summer season at the Palladium is the chance we get to present artists for the first time.
Saturday night is one of those nights. I hope you can join us as we welcome two newcomers to the Side Door – Laura Reed and Kristopher James.
I had been talking with Kristopher about a show for a while, but as we were homing in on a date, he suggested his friend Laura Reed as a co-headliner and the show fell into place.
The two-band, double-bill promises to be a night of soulful vocals, great musicianship and first-rate songwriting.
James and his band fuse elements of a Stax records sound, southern storytelling and a singer songwriter heart, for a live show that soars and sways with sultry soul that will leave you wanting more.
Creative Loafing said he has a “gift for melody unrivaled in the Bay Area.”
And Laura Reed’s pedigree includes a major label deal and time in Nashville. Her rootsy sound is of equal parts soul and blues with a pop flare, led through her powerful and gutsy vocals. She honed her stage act with legends like George Clinton, Indie Arie and Valerie June.
Showtime on Friday, Aug. 9 is 8 p.m. in the intimate Side Door Cabaret. For tickets and more information, you can follow this link.
