STEPS Ballet Ensemble will be performing excerpts from the timeless classical ballet The Sleeping Beauty. Featuring pre-professional dancers as well as guest ballet dancers, this ballet tells the love story of a cursed princess and her prince overcoming the wicked Carabosse. There will also be mixed repertoire and variations to round out this delightful showcase of dance.
About STEPS Ballet Ensemble
STEPS Ballet Ensemble is a group of elite, pre-professional dancers selected by invitation and/or private audition on an annual basis. The mission of the Ensemble is to provide a safe, nurturing and inspiring training program for advanced ballet dancers to prepare them for a professional or college track in classical ballet.
Dancers in this program receive extra hours of ballet training and rehearsals as well as performance opportunities, photo shoots and special events designed to highlight their talent at STEPS and in the community.
STEPS School of Dance and Performing Arts was founded in 1987 by Maureen Gibson and her husband Scott. Over the course of 30 years STEPS became one of Pinellas County’s most established and well-respected dance institutions. Under the Directorship of Maureen Gibson, many STEPS students went on to professional careers in the dance industry. Thanks to STEPS, dance has touched the lives of countless members of the community. Many now are bringing their own children to dance at STEPS!
