ABOUT ANDREA DEL PRINCIPE
“When I was four, standing on the living room’s armchair, I used to sing along with the records of Gigli and Enrico Caruso, trying to make a voice ‘big’ like theirs. It took more effort to stand balanced on my little legs, yet my will was already strong. This is the first memory of the passion I have for singing, a passion that burns within me every day of my life.”
As a singer and songwriter, he blends lyric style with pop. In 2002 Andrea performed his professional debut at the Teatro Regio (Italy) with a repertoire drawn from Verdi and Puccini’s operas. The audience was surprised when he continued with “New York, New York” and other popular songs, but it proved to be a success.
Andrea has a classical education and training, but has since developed the techniques he applies to his “smooth” passages from lyric to pop. “I love to speak to people’s hearts, choosing to interpret a song by changing the style of the sound according to the meaning of the words and music”
Andrea first performed in public at only five years old, singing an opera piece in front a crowded lounge of three thousand people on a cruise ship, while traveling with his father to Africa. Since then, every school Christmas recital from kindergarten to university was an occasion to sing…
Andrea loves the challenge to sing in a variety of situations, from official occasions to the most popular, with a repertoire ranging from opera to Broadway, Neapolitan songs, and pop hits. His natural talent to interpret classical compositions with renewed energy allowed him to work with the best Italian musicians and producers. His first record “BuonanotteAmore” was released in Europe by SMI-EdelGermany, some tracks were republished by Edeland Sony Music in 2019.
Andrea holds an appreciation for the United States of America. “I love the people and all the different customs throughout this big country. I love the people’s sense of optimism; people who are driven by their dreams and have the courage to strongly believe in something. “My impression of the “American Dream” embodies the viewpoint that any destination or goal can be reached but more importantly, it is the manner in which they are achieved.”
