A tradition for the last 15 years, Nate Najar’s Jazz Holiday features special guests Daniela Soledade (vocals), Adrian Cunningham (clarinet/tenor saxophone/flute/ vocals) and Dmitry Baevsky (alto saxophone) alongside longtime musical companions Patrick Bettison (keyboard), Joe Porter (bass) and Jean Bolduc (drums). The band will swing through both jazz and holiday favorites, choice cuts from Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s adaptation of the Nutcracker Suite, and selections from Nate’s Woodward Avenue Records release Christmas In December.

Guitarist Nate Najar is emerging as one of this decade’s finest modern jazz exponents. He is a player who uses a distinctive technique to convey his artistic prowess- not many artists play acoustic classical guitar with right hand classical technique, yet it is the perfect choice for Najar’s comprehensive approach. Not restricted to single notes or chords, Nate seamlessly weaves melody, harmony and rhythmic freedom. The result is music that is swinging, emotional, inventive and interesting. Nate’s most recent album Jazz Samba Pra Sempre charted for 15 weeks on the JazzWeek North American radio chart and spent a month in the top ten.
Daniela Soledade is a rising star among legends in the Brazilian music scene. An heir to the bossa nova legacy, Soledade is highly acclaimed for her poignantly expressive vocal style and intimate aesthetic. With a tremendous talent for paying tribute to her musical heritage while staying true to her own artistry, Soledade is a mix of authentic bossa nova, samba, MPB, and American Popular Song. A brilliant collaborator, Soledade has worked with many well-known artists in Brazilian music. Recent collaborations include Bossa Nova pioneer Roberto Menescal—the music video for his song “Rio” features Soledade’s English lyrics—as well as a recording with the composer of “Pretty World” Antonio Adolfo. Daniela is just back from a sold out European tour supporting her 2022 Blue Line Music release Pretty World.
Adrian Cunningham is an award winning multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and world traveller. Originally from Sydney, Australia and now based in New York, he proves to be one of his country’s top exports. With fluent command of the saxophones, clarinet, and flute, he is one of the finest multi-instrumentalists in Jazz. Since moving to NYC in 2008, Adrian has quickly risen to be one of the most in demand woodwind players on the New York jazz scene, having recorded/performed with Jazz luminaries such as Jeff Hamilton, John Clayton, Wynton Marsalis, Herlin Riley, Jon Batiste & Stay Human, Cecile Mclorin Salvant, Steve Jordan, Grammy-winner Vince Giordano and Grammy-nominated Rene Marie. His latest CD Jazz Speak was recorded, recorded in LA with jazz legends Jeff Hamilton, John Clayton and Ted Rosenthal and broke the top 20 in the national US Jazzweek Charts.
When he turned 19, Dmitry Baevsky auditioned to join the Jazz Department at the New School University in New York and was granted a full scholarship. He therefore left Russia to settle in the USA. As he was finishing college, Baevsky was already a member of the New York jazz community and decided to settle permanently. He released his first album as a leader in 2005 with “Introducing Dmitry Baevsky” (Lineage Records). The album features such masters as Cedar Walton and Jimmy Cobb. In 2009, he recorded “Some Other Spring” (Rideau Rouge / Harmonia Mundi) while on tour in Europe with the great guitarist Joe Cohn. In September 2010, the label Sharp Nine Records released “Down With It”, an album featuring trumpet player Jeremy Pelt as well as Jeb Patton (p), David Wong (b) and Jason Brown (dr). The recording stayed more than four months in the Jazzweek charts (a weekly report of the top fifty Jazz recordings played on radio stations across the United States and Canada). In 2015, the album “Over and Out” was released on Jazz Family Label. Dmitry chose the trio format for this recording. In September 2018, the label jazz&people releases « We Two », a duo recording with pianist Jeb Patton.
