I know a place like the Palladium is more than a building or a business. A music venue like ours is a gathering place. It’s like a family home, where our patrons, staff, performers and volunteers come together for special occasions.
Sometimes in the hustle of a busy season, I forget to celebrate the unique relationship so many people have with the Palladium.
But in these dark times, when we can’t come together, folks are reminding me how valuable this relationship really is.
Here are a few examples:
- The vast majority of our chamber music patrons have chosen to donate their unused ticket purchases to the Palladium to help us through this time of zero income.
- Some of our volunteer ushers are starting to sew protective masks at home and one of them shared that with our house manager, Nancy Jones. Another volunteer had told Nancy her organization needed masks. Now those mask makers and that organization are connected. We’ll see how this blossoms.
- And many of our patrons have taken time to write to us and share their special feelings about the Palladium. The emails came in response to ticket refund calls and emails from our box office and Megan Byrne, our box office manager. I’ve included the email messages and the senders’ first names here. For privacy purposes, I’ve deleted last names.
I think you’ll be touched reading these unsolicited comments:
“Thank you so much. Praying for you and the amazing team and that everyone stay healthy. Looking forward to enjoying in person music again soon.
– Blessings – Randi
