Thursday, March 30th the Palladium Theater, will host The Resurrection of Stevie Ray Vaughan, featuring Billy Evanochko in the starring role. Good seats are going fast, so follow this link for tickets and more show info.
Now a little about this show and the great Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the featured guitarist – Billy Evanochko:
For those of you who were fortunate enough to see Stevie Ray in concert, you knew you were witnessing something special, a musician whose skill exceeded earthly expectations, someone the universe used as a conduit for the message that only truly great music can evoke in the emotions of ordinary mortals. The music of SRV moves people.
The show is obviously a tribute to the man and his music, but somehow it’s more than that, not a miracle mind you, but a celebration of the music Stevie Ray loved to play. A few minutes into the show audiences get swept up in the SRV rhythms and the throbbing of a Stratocaster on overload! The show is one of those rare theatrical experiences that just brings out the joy in the moment, something that you wish would continue well past the final curtain, and something that audiences remember as a warm spot in their rock n’ roll hearts forever after.
When contacted for a quote, the show’s producer simply stated, “There will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughan, and when we set out to cast the role, we auditioned about two dozen guitar players, and at the end there was only one left standing, Billy Evanochko! Although Billy has a successful recording career, he was originally inspired to pick up the guitar after listening to SRV, and he listened well. Billy has the chops, charisma and voice to do the music justice. Without that talent there would be no show. We were fortunate that he agreed to tour with us!”
Sadly Stevie Ray Vaughan passed away in a helicopter crash after playing with Eric Clapton. When he passed, his star was at its zenith and the world sang his praises, so join us in celebration of some of the best rock n’ roll ever recorded.
If you can’t make it to the show, just stand outside on a warm, star crossed night , look up at Rock n’ Roll heaven, listen closely, and you can hear Stevie and Jimi tradin’ riffs on “VooDoo Child!” Hail, Hail Rock n’ Roll!
