Comic and actor Ward Smith is back with more laughs in the Side Door this Saturday night. Hopefully, you caught one of our great Sunday night comedy shows last summer – all hosted by Ward.
We decided for this summer we’d put a bunch of funny folks together on a Saturday night and call it: “Ward Smith and Friends – One Night Stand.” And my buddy, Frank Robertson, who spent years as an anchor with Fox 13, will be here to emcee and tell a few jokes.
Tickets are available at our box office. I chatted with Ward this week about the show:
PalladiumPaul – How is the Side Door as a comedy room?
Ward Smith – Wonderful warm and cozy room perfect for comedy. Every act that I had last summer could not say enough nice things about it.
Paul – I know Frank Robertson from his TV days. Is he funny?
Ward – He is very funny – yet somewhat dry. He’s very likeable and entertaining – and not blue!
Paul – Tell us about the other comics on the bill.
Ward – Veteran performers Trish Keating and Lou Angelwolf have my been friends for over 15 years and they get funnier every time. They always show up and deliver.
Paul – You’re an actor as well as a stand-up. What projects have your done recently?
Ward – Just wrapped two episodes of ZOO which airs on CBS on Tuesday nights. My spots won’t air until late August. Aside from acting, I do some singing. I’ll be performing with Bogus Pomp on July 31st and August 1st – to belt out a few Zappa tunes with them.
